You need to turn the industry on it's head.

Empower the end viewer to decide what projects should go into production, kickstarter fashion
1. purchase viewing rights in advance
2. literal investment with returns
3. etc

Get the audience emotionally involved - allow them to influence the cast selection, etc, these in turn promote themselves to gain public approval, spreading the word.

The projects can start out with modest budgets.

Interesting idea Scott. My feeling is that we don't need to build a studio to kill Hollywood. Think of shows like 'The Office' and movies 'Little Miss Sunshine', they were made on a ramen noodle budget and have huge following.
I think us consumers have long started to appreciate movies/shows with passion rather than $4M shit blowing up. I say we give the entrepreneurs of Hollywood entertain us on meager budget.
PS: How about making it community funding based?

We will not fund short, attention-grabbing, quick films unless we feel there's enough of a "long tail" market for the film that justifies the investment in it.

First off, tanks for the step-by-step. I did discover discrepancies with the directory references within the mongodb instructions.

Take into consideration the move/renaming of the 'mongodb-osx-x86_64-1.6.3' directory:

sudo mv mongodb-osx-x86_64-1.6.3 /usr/local/mongodb

The name of the directory is now ''mongodb'...

Then, in the steps thereafter, references are made to the 'mongodb-osx-x86_64-1.6.3' directory. Bottom line, all instances of 'mongodb-osx-x86_64-1.6.3' need to be changed to simply 'mongodb'.

This is a great idea. I wish you guys the best.
